a) Study scriptures on righteousness. First of all, what is righteousness? It is the ability to stand in the presence of the Father without the sense of guilt and inferiority.
This standing with God is on the ground of faith in Jesus Christ since God laid upon Him our iniquities. 2 Corinthians 5:21, “Him who knew no sin God made to be sin on our behalf.” He was made unrighteous with our unrighteousness and as our Sin Substitute, bearing our sins, He went to the place of suffering after He left His body. Just as Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness, we also when we believed God, became the righteousness in Him.
It does not make any difference how wicked a man is, if he takes Christ as his Saviour and confesses Him as his Lord, God makes him a New Creation. That man becomes the Righteousness of God in Christ. Righteousness becomes a living reality in him and as James indicated, in James 5:16, his prayer availeth much.
b) Ask Holy Spirit for spiritual understanding of this message and ask Him to strengthen you against opposition to this knowledge.
c) 2 Corinthians 9:9,10. (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) What is the fruit of righteousness that Paul was writing about?
They were the fruits of Righteousness in Jesus’ life. The fruits of Righteousness were not right actions only but they were carrying out the will of His Father, speaking the words of His Father. That meant healing the sick, feeding the multitudes, and all the other manifestations of His love toward man.
Since we are branches (offshoot) from the Vine, the fruits of Righteousness in our lives will be blessing and
helping people, healing their diseases, opening the Word to them, breaking the power of the adversary over their lives, teaching them how to live in the will of the Father, teaching them how to enjoy all the fullness of His grace, and by showing forth in our daily walk a fearless fellowship with the Father, a fearless attitude toward the adversary and all his works, plus a fearless mastery over circumstances. That would be bearing fruit. That would be bearing the fruit of righteousness (E.W. Kenyon).
d) Ask the Lord to enable you to bear and exhibit the fruits of righteousness.
e) Finally 1 John 3:7-10, “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
f) Father, thank you for your seed that abides and remains in me. I am intent on keeping away from sin. Help me to keep myself pure.
